Wood floors can catch and accumulate a lot of dirt with time. If you don't clean them properly, you could potentially have some really filthy floors. If you don't clean them properly, they may simply look dirty because you may be stripping them down without realizing it. To clean your wood floors properly, there are a few things you should know. Read on for wood floor cleaning tips.
Clean With Wood Floor Cleaner
Only use a floor cleaner that is made for wood floors. Anything else can strip the wax from your wood floors and leave them dull. Use wood floor cleaner as instructed on the container of wood floor cleaner. Use a soft sponge mop, or a microfiber cloth mop to clean your floors. Some wood floors, such as laminate may not need to be cleaned the same way, but if you have actual hardwood floors, a wood floor cleaner is what you should be using. Things such as steam cleaners can leave your hardwood floors dull and can also dry them out, which can ruin them.
Remove Everything From Your Floors
When you clean your floors, you should remove everything that you can from them in order to get your floors as clean as possible. If you have a lot of furniture that cannot be removed, you may be able to move it to one side of the room and then move it back to the other side. This will also give your floors an all-over cleaning, not just a spotty clean.
Remove Most Of The Water From Your Mop
Remove as much of the water from your mop as possible. Removing much of the water will help prevent water spots from being left on your floors. Too much water on your floors can also discolor and damage your floors. Wring out your mop, but if you have a lot of water on your floors, you can use a towel to dry your floors when you're finished.
Work From One End To The Other
Start on one end of the room, then work your way back to a doorway so you don't trap yourself into a corner. Be sure when you mop that you are rinsing your mop in the cleaner often to clean it off in the water. If your cleaning solution is getting too dirty, you need to rinse out your bucket and add new cleaning solution. This way you aren't cleaning your floors with dirty water.
If you have wood floors, clean them the right way to prevent them from looking dirtier. If you aren't sure how to clean your wood floors properly, or would rather have someone else do this job for you, hire a cleaning service to get the job done right.
